I don't really understand the new setup, but I am looking for information on Thomas Shirley and Catherine Nowlan (Nolan). They were married in Kilkenny in 1828 and had the following children: Maria, Sarah, William, Catherine, Richard, James, Thomas, Elizabeth, Bridget, and Susan. At least Richard immigrated to the U.S. and James went to Mexico and the U.S. I think Catherine came to the U.S. and may have had mental problems. I have info on Richard and James, but would like some information about the other children and about Thomas and Catherine.
Is this how it goes?

Sorry for the considerable delay in responding. I am posting a working pedigree for Thomas Shirley (m. Nowlan) we have in our Member's section of the website. Careful, errors are likely
Also sorry for the lack of formatting, but this message board does not seem to have the ability to paste as HTML etc. (or images)

married Ursula Branigan on 21 December 1846 at Castland, White Church Parish, Kilkenny (Protestant). Daughter of Richard Branigan, gent of White Church. Is this marriage for the correct William chr 1834, i.e. age 12??? The marriage date must be wrong, because the link to Thomas Shirley of Tullemaine and then to Catherine Nowlan (i.e. William's chr record) is convincing!
Dec 21, 1846 William Shirley, Gent., married Ursella Branigan Parish Church in Castland, alias White Church. Son of Thomas Shirley, Gent. of Tullemaine. Daughter of Richard Branigan, Gent. of White Church.

Email: Richard Jeremiah Shirley (my great-grandfather was born in Douglas, Isle of Man, on 23 Nov. 1839, but grew up in Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland. I think he came to the U.S. in 1859 and went to either Lockport or Rockford, Illinois (his obituary says Rockport which I couldn't find in Illinois; since there's a Rockport in our area, I think someone just made a mistake). By 1870 he was in Refugio County, Texas, and by 1800 he was in Corpus Christi, Texas. My mother had relatives in Mexico who knew they were related through Richard Jeremiah to a James Shirley (not James Gilbert Shirley who we know we are related to). I have been told James Shirley was born in Kilkenny in 1846, the son of Thomas Shirley and Catherine Nolan
1(vi). James Shirley christened 27 August 1846 at Danesfort Parish, Kilkenny
Email: I was given the information on Thomas Shirley and Catherine Nolan by a distant relative who is more interested in another section of the family. Anyway, she said that Thomas and Catherine's son, James, was baptized in Danesfort, Kilkenny, on August 27, 1846. She didn't provide any documents, and I have no other information except what happened after they went to Mexico and then the U.S. and elsewhere.
