I'm looking for information on my mother Mary Pearl Shirley. Her parents were Floyd Joseph (Bud) Shirley and Pearl Violet Shirley. I believe she was the youngest of 6 children.

Hi - People often send queries to the Shirley Association asking for "information" - but they aren't specific as to what information they are seeking. Usually I provide genealogocal "information" to them, with a frequent reply "I already know all that" - in other words squandered effort. But here goes anyway... Floyd Shirley (b 1909 MO) and wife Pearl and 3 children are enumerated in the 1940 census of St Louis Co MO; In 1930 census, they are found in Detroit, Wayne Co Michigan, newly married 1 year, no children; Floyd has same approx date of birth and birthplace Missouri. A Floyd Shirley (likely your ancestor) born 1909 enumerated in parent's household in nearby St Genevieve Co MO in 1910 and 1920 census. Parents Dr John M Shirley (b 1866 MO), wife Rosellie (1910) and Emily (1920) (Findagrave says her maiden name is Johnson, but I have not verified) John M Shirley and wife Roselie are enumerated in Bollinger Co Mo in 1900 Branch 77 lived in Bollinger Co MO and includes a John Manley Shirley (wife Rosalie) in the posted lineage. Floyd Joseph Shirley and Pearl Violet Shirley were my grandparents. The above response in regards to Floyd is what I've found as well. Pearl (Johnson) was the daughter of George and Lucille (McClure) Johnson. If you can specify more information of what you are looking for, please reach out to me. |
